La Fleur De Gay 1988
A terrific example for the vintage, and the first of a remarkable trilogy for La Fleur de Gay, the dark garnet-colored 1988 has notes of melted licorice intermixed with espresso, sweet red and black fruits, mineral, and spice. The wine’s exuberant fragrance is followed by a very delineated, moderately tannic, medium to full-bodied wine with superb concentration, sweet but noticeable tannin, and outstanding depth. A beautiful wine to drink over the next 10-15 years. Anticipated maturity: Now-2015.
