Deep garnet with tertiary development to the bouquet

Cedarwood, underbrush, dried earth and liquorice pair up with blackcurrant, raspberry, and an interesting roasted herbs note. In the background lurk some light tobacco whiffs, raisin and dried spices.

Dry cocoa powder texture is partners a rather low acid on entry and lots of baked fruit indicative of the hot 2003 vintage. Full-bodied, the wine is powerful but feels a little extracted and very generous. An edge of wet clay gives succour to the mid-palate with some chocolate drops. Resolved, sinewy tannins and a medium-long finish, the wine seems a little dried up—Leaden-footed and pondering.
